South Chittoor is an Island situated 5Kms away from the heart of Ernakulam City.The island is connected to the main land in various directions by 3 bridges, Chittoor Bridge connect to vaduthala, Edayakunnam bridge to Cheranelloor & Kothad bridge to Kothad.The village as is near to the city, the developments taking place in the district had an equal impact on the village also. It is also fast developing along with the major projects like Vallarpadam LNG & container terminal.The main obstacle for the road transport to the Ernakulam town is the two gates (Vaduthala & Pachalam railway gates),which consumes major time in the journey to the city. There is a strong demand by the public for overbridges in these two places. The proposed coastal road on completion will ease the traffic flow. There are more than 100 bus services including KSTRC buses connceting the village to various destinations. There is also ferry service connecting the city with the village. The present private bust stand is at Chittoor ferry which enables the public easy access for water transport to various islands like Moolampilly, Pizhala, Varapuzha, Kothad etc.
